THS Students and Families! We are very excited to see you all tomorrow with the first day of the 2020-2021 school year! It has been too long since we have been "in session". I just want to provide some quick updates as to our re-start operations.
First and foremost, the "Before School Daily Health Checklist" (questions to be asked at home before going to school) will likely be posted later today. Please be vigilant with questioning whether or not you should attend school. We know that we are going to face challenges with COVID and other health scenarios. We can not stop nor completely avoid those health situations. However, by not attending school when unhealthy, we can help prevent spreading any illness. If you are ill, please stay home.
We have not been able to schedule an open house. This is especially trying for 7th grade and new students. We have had some major HVAC construction taking place and the hallways are just cleared. Our custodians have done a fantastic job in a limited time frame in getting the building ready! The plus side is with this HOT week, the AC has sure been nice! We are prepared to help those new to the building navigate tomorrow when they arrive, and it may seem a little overwhelming. Patience and grace will be on full display! If you have a student that needs to be acclimated to the building, we are open today and will allow those new students to find their lockers, classrooms, etc. As with everything this year, please practice distancing and enter and exit out of the main lobby.
The current recommendation of CDC is to NOT conduct temp checks when entering the building. We are planning to start the year following those recommendations, however that may change and we would do temp checks if recommended. That being said, we are going to practice social distancing as much as possible. The doors to the school will not be open until 8:10, which is when teachers shall be on site. At 8:10, students may grab their grab and go breakfast in the cafeteria, place materials in lockers and proceed to their 1st period classes. Hallway and gym activities will not be allowed. Last year, we made a lot of progress on back pack limits. This year, we are encouraging you to use a backpack between classes to limit the amount of time spent in the hallways.
ALL students should become very fluent in using Google Classroom and piratek12.org email addresses. These tools will be heavily relied upon in all classroom situations, whether in person or Distance Learning. Distance learners - keep watching and we will be gathering your needed materials to get to you!
New students/returning students - if you need class schedules yet - we will get them. It may just require some patience in the morning!
At the end of the day, all students are asked to bring any materials going home with them PRIOR to going to practice, etc. We would like to eliminate the re-entry traffic in the hallways and classrooms as daily disinfecting will take place.
We will all learn a whole lot more about how this unusual start will progress tomorrow. There will be a lot of adjustments made and change will be welcome. I am excited to see you all and encourage you to ask questions. Please email me at bodegaard@piratek12.org with any questions!
See you tomorrow!

Reminder that Junior High Football will start Monday, August 17th at 4pm. You will meet at the high school by the boys locker room door. Bring your own water bottle and bag to carry your football gear home. Bring a buddy with, strength is in numbers. Coach Lalim and Coach King....

Central Parents: with the new CDC guidelines we will not be having an open house this year. Also, during the school year we will not be allowing visitors into the building (they must stay in the office area). This would include the first day of school. So, what I would like to do is open Central up on Tuesday, August 18th so you and your child can bring their school supplies to their locker. I am asking that only parents/guardians, along with student/s who attend Central come into the building. Also, you may not go into classrooms, you may walk the hallways so your child can see the building (especially our K and new students). Feel free to take a picture by their locker, by their classroom door and outside the building. Enter through door #1 and also exit door #1. Please practice social distancing and masks are recommended. Here is the schedule, so I can limit the amount of people in the building. If your last name starts with A-G your time is 12pm-12:45pm, H-K your time is 12:45-1:30pm, L-M your time is 1:30-2:15pm, N-S your time is 2:15-3:00 and T-Y your time is 3:00-3:45pm. Any questions please contact Mr. Schaffer at 701-664-3441 or tim.schaffer@k12.nd.us
